About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have a daughter, Aurora, born March 2015. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. xxxx

Daisy Daisy for Allsorts

Good Morning All
It is my turn to host the challenge this week over at Allsorts
I chose the theme of Daisy Daisy.
I used John Lockwood Daisy Dream Stamp and his paper pad 'Spring Shades'
I used Perfect Medium to stamp and then brushed with Pearl shades of Cosmic Shimmer.

The Cosmic Shimmer looks so pretty stamped onto black card.

The paper has flowers on which, I think, look like daisies.

Prize is one of Johns Stamp Sets

Curls and/or Swirls for MAWTT

Good Morning All

Crikey it is soooooo cold here, we had snow yesterday and it was so funny as the Spanish people were coming out and taking photos and the old people were standing at their doors looking out in amazement!!!  I have been told that they have not had snow in this area for over 90 years.
There are loads of posts on Facebook of beaches covered in snow and abit more in and they have had about 4 or 5 inches.
Yesterday we had snow, a little bit of sunshine (you could see the sun shining on the mountains at the back of our village)
Then the rain came and last night 2 thunderstorms!!!!
Now it is raining and cold, so cold.
I cant move from the fire and go in my craft room so it is crafting on my knee!!!!
Moving Along With The Times Challenge is hosted by Hazel on Team B.
She would like to see Curls or Swirls.
I used my ever faithful Sissix 'Iron Gate' die on top of John Lockwoods kitchen roll/Pixie Powder technique.
CE Ornate Oval for the sentiment.
All mounted onto card coloured with Gilding Polish.

I added a gorgeous Tattered Lace Butterfly with some pearl dots on body.

I stuck one of my bead danglers in top corner and some gems and pearls in each corner,
I have to have symmetry!!!!

Loaded Envelope

Good Morning All
This is a Loaded Envelope.
A new item for me to make and this came about from a group on Facebook.
I think it is more an American thing but becoming more popular in UK.
Anyway, I thought I would give it a go and another great way to use scraps too.
This is it without all the goodies stuffed inside.

Then you will it with whatever you want.

I have been making packs of homemade embellishments to include in my swaps -
Butterflies, tiny Envelopes and Flowers and Tags.

Just anther way of using my time and stash.

Magical Butterflies

Good Morning All
Did you enjoy the weekend?
Watching Hochanda Creative Expressions takeover?
I'm catching up as I recorded most of them, I cant inflict 48 hours of crafting on my John, especially at a weekend when sport is on!!!!!!
Do you ever get frustrated with your crafting?  So many things I want to do, so much stash to use.
Why cant we stop buying new stuff?????????
I keep popping onto Ebay and bidding on charms, beads, laces, trims and I dont NEED them, I just enjoy the bidding, if I win them, great, if I dont, not a problem.
Tried to get my head in the right place and had a bit of a tidy up.
I HAVE to start using all the bits on my desk, that is what I,m going to do today.  I need to make some Man cards as I have been asked if I want to have a card stand in the local bar English bar.
Anyway, keeping with the theme of butterflies this one is using Sue Wilson Magical Butterflies and the negative from New Zealand Wellington.
Pixie Powders, Plum Twist and Midnight Blue (I think)
Phil Martin corner sentiment heat embossed in white.

Have a good day.

Things with Wings for Allsorts

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge this week is hosted by our lovely Tracy Mouse.
Things with Wings is the theme so, of course, for me it had to be butterflies.

The paper is from a 12 x 12 pad I bought from C&C when it was on offer.

Satin ribbon with one of my homemade stick Pins.

As our sponsor is Tattered Lace, I used one of their dies for the butterflies.

I used the remainder of the paper to decorate the inside.

Good Morning All
My lovely crafty friend Val bought me a lovely Santoro set for Christmas.
It includes lots of decoupage, toppers and papers.
So I have been making afew cards with it.

Whenever I photograph purples and blues they never look true, if you know what I mean.
I know John uses a white light box but I,m afraid I cant go to all that trouble, dont have the room!!!!

Dogs or Cats for Allsorts

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge today is animal themed, Cats or Dogs chosen by Susan.
So here is a  Box Card I made to give to two guys that run a Doggie Hotel, called Smooch Pooch Retreat.
This is where my friend Jacky leaves Cara when she has to go back to UK.
The dogs are allowed to run around the compound free, not kept in kennels all the time. They are all so well behaved, a great place.
Anyway, the guys  moved to larger premises and had an open day and they said they would try to sell some of my cards to raise money far a dog charity they support.
I asked them what their fave colour was and it is red or blue.

Post Pal for ill Children

Good Morning All

Here is a couple of cards I made yesterday for the Post Pal scheme, (link in sidebar).
When I went onto their site and read some of the stories about these kids I really wanted to do something to put a tiny smile on theirs faces.

I tried to make them 'Fun' cards.

They are quick, easy cards that I would not send to an adult but great for kids.

I have added some circles and eyes so that they could make a caterpillar if they wanted to for themselves.

I am going to send some bits with each card I send.
I found these cards on the net and printed them off, thought they would give them something to do, colour in or write on the backs of the tags.
I included some ribbon too.

I have a box of Paper Mania shapes too that I thought I could send some with each card.

I have loads of stuff I never use but never threw out and if it gives these kids abit of pleasure that's fine by me.
The site gives you ideas of what the kids like and if they have siblings, because it is nice to send them cards too.
I am going to make some small Quiet books, (like this only smaller)  for the younger ones and Junk Journals (like this one but not as fancy) too, for the older ones.
It is  a great way of giving me a purpose to make stuff that I enjoy making. and really, all it costs me is the postage.
I am sending 8 cards off today, each of the 4 I picked have a sibling so I sent them one too.
I will be making alot more.
Please click on the link in my sidebar and have a look.
Some of the kids who have a certain type of leukaemia, have to have chemo for  two and a half to three years !!!!
My sister is so lucky with the type she has, you really would not know there was anything wrong with her.
She has to take a tablet each day and feels fine.

Good Morning All
Today is my sisters and my best friends Birthday, so a big Happy Birthday to them.
I mentioned the other day about Gail staying in the next town to me and when we met up, she very kindly, gave me some LOTV toppers which I love.
So here is a couple of cards I have made with them.

I have been on a mission this last week and that is to clear out my scrap box and KEEP it clear!!!!

I have near enough cleared it but I am going to start throwing scraps away, small ones anyway!!!

These two are using some of those bits - string, odd die cuts, leaves.
When I cut a square for a mat with my Pierced Noble dies, I nearly always cut the centre out too, as it will be covered,  so that is the small one on the first card I used for the sentiment tags.

1st post for new Year

Good Morning All
Hope you all had a good New Year.
Things start getting back to normal now.
I decorated this box when we got back from Benidorm.
You know when ideas play around in your head at night.
It is a cardboard box that I got some blank stick pins in, it is about 2.5" x 3.5".
I opened it out before I decorated it so that I could make a template from it, if I liked how it turned out, I could make more.

I used Decoupage paper and Glue and seal glue to cover inside and out.

I hot  glued pink lace around the outside of the lid,
two lace bows and some handmade paper flowers.
Inside I cut some pink felt with Pinking Shears and made a little book for stick pins.
I hid the press-stud fastening under a button.

I love how it turned out and will make a nice little gift for someone.
It is so cute.
I have just come across this wonderful site called Post Pals which I am going to contribute to and help in any way I can HERE

This was the view from our table where we were having a drink on Christmas eve in Benidorm.
Perfect blue skies and sunshine.
Yes, the two beer bottles are Johns and the Diet Coke is mine (you cant see the large Bacardi!!!!!)

Something New for Allsorts

Good Morning All

I shall take this opportunity to wish you all

Allsorts Challenge this time is hosted by Mervi and the theme is Something New.
As you know I go on Facebook and there is a group on there for Journal Junkies.
I have never tried this before but it intrigued me so this is my first attempt.
This is the front and I used a gorgeous tag sent to me on my
first swap in another group on FB by a lady called Veonnifer.

The back with some handmade  flowers also sent by Veonnifer

Spine decorated with beads and danglers.

I will use it like a memory book, cutting bits out of magazine, poems, sayings, receipts etc.
As I suffer periodically with depression I thought this would be good to record thoughts.

Please note nail varnish missing off index finger on left hand - 2 days before I was having my nails done for Christmas, I was chopping veg for soup and took the corner off my nail and finger, so it was bandaged up when I had my nails done!!!!

I put 3 signatures inside
( these are sets of pages)

This is the first one.
All scraps of papers and envelopes, doilies too.

The middle one I kept in more summery colours.
The idea is, I think, to add journalling, glue pics, receipts, memory joggers, anything at all.

Some make them from used envelopes, junk mail
(which is where the name comes from I think).
I used lots from my scrap drawer which is why there are some tiny pages in the middle of each signature.

And this is the final one for a Wintery feel.
The two images are from a 12 x 12 set I have had for ages, didn't want to throw it away as I knew it would come in useful sometime.
The same with some  rectangle paper doilies too.
I have used one in each of the signatures,
as shown in the last photo.

The first part of this one I am keeping for recording my swaps.

And the final part to keep tags with my thoughts on.
I made a pocket for them and stamped with some very apt sayings from a John Lockwood stamp set.

Our Sponsor is Tattered Lace giving a lovely die set.
