About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Rainbow Parchment

Good Morning All

Nanna here LOL.  Baby Noah doing well, he was 8.10oz so quite big and doing well.  They are sending her home today even though she had a bit of a rough time.  They do kick them out so quick these days.
                                                                  ***************
I have just finished this piece of parchment and I think I have done it previously (I keep all my patterns, never throw anything away LOL).  I mounted it onto rainbow card.  I,m not sure which sentiment to add yet, I may just wait until I decide who to give it to, but I think I will make a parchment sentiment, by this, I mean words embossed onto parchment then pricked and cut out.

***********

This is a pic of Noah that his Mum emailed me showing the blanket I crocheted for him and gave to them when I was there in August.  Sleeping so peacefully !!!!!

He's Arrived

Good Morning All

He has arrived, no not Santa, Noah.  He made his entrance at 1.30am UK time.

I cant wait now to get over there to give him, and them, (Mum & Dad)  a cuddle.

I am back into my parchment now and have made afew creations.  I have a fan on the go but have to make each piece separately so will take me a while.  As that project is ongoing, I work on another piece at the same time, this is one I completed last week.  I think it is so beautiful. all whitework mounted onto deep purple card.

A Good Morning

Good Morning All

The craft meeting yesterday was nearly cancelled due to the bar where we meet being broken into over night, so the owner had to make a trip to the Guardia Civil.  There can be alot of burglary here due to there being no state help, so people get desperate.  Anyway, one of the ladies suggested we went to her house and it was wonderful.  This lady, Jackie, is into scrap booking, so we had a good look through her books and got lots of ideas.  Then I showed  a couple of the ladies how to make the box book like this one HERE.  Jackie goes back to the UK next week for afew months so she will be missed.  I do hope we can carry on meeting, as the others, and I, do enjoy it as we all seem to be into different crafts, which is great.  We also had a new lady join us, Margaret and she said she will be back next week to learn more as she does not do any crafting YET.
                                                          *********************

I made afew quick cards the other day from my Humphrey pack from Crafters Companion.

These are both flat images so I matted and layered onto various coloured card.

Quite simple this one, added string with a little elephant charm which I thought was quite cute.
A couple of gems too.

CHALLENGES ---

Tried to do a bit of a different design here for a change.  Using Spellbinders Scalloped circle, matted and layered for the larger image and smaller ones inside.

Music Inspired

Good Morning All

Moving Along With The Times  Challenge time again and the theme is 'Music'.  When I saw this one I knew what I wanted to use.  When I was away I did some cutting out (decoupage) and this is one I did.  Some of these sheets were given to me by Linda from Animal Aid.  There are loads of different designs and there is also pricking marks on the back so it makes the pattern on the front.

I mounted it onto a green mirri card and then onto a  6 x 6 scalloped card blank.  Added afew gems and a piece of raffia tied into a bow.

Pop over to the challenge blog and have fun.

Box Book

Good Morning All

I went to work at the charity shop yesterday and managed for 3 hours then I had to come home, headache, sore throat and feeling really yuk.  So I came home, had some homemade soup and went to bed, I thought I had slept for about half an hour when John came in with a cuppa for me, but when I looked at the clock it was 4.50 so I had been in bed for nearly 3 hours!!!!!    I still have a really sore throat this morning, I thought I was getting over this the other day but I may have to go and get some antibiotics, see how it goes today.

I made this box book last night while he was watching footy.

Each side is 1/2" deep so the whole book is 1" thick.

I followed the tutorial on HERE on Fabulously Artsy blog ,and it was very easy.

I,m going to cut the card out to take to the craft class on Thursday, so long as I feel OK.  It is just a 8 x 9" piece of sturdy card, 2 brads or buttons and embellishments as required.

No baby news yet but they go to hospital today, again, so watch this space!!!

Thank You

Good Morning All

Hope you are all well, I,m still feeling a little yukky with this cold, but Heyho, thats life and it could be worse. It has gone quite cold here and besides the quilt I had to have a blanket last night too. I saw my neighbour yesterday and she was wearing one of these 'onzies' that are fashionable as she was so cold, personally, I think they are bloomin' awful.

I went to a local market yesterday morning without my coat, just a cardigan, and I was perished, so I quickly bought what I needed, mostly fruit and veg, and came home.  I had a lovely Saturday sorting the spare bedroom wardrobes out, swapping stuff over, looking through my craft stash etc etc.  Also I wrote some of my Christmas cards out, getting them ready to bring with me to the UK to post.  Just 3 weeks today and I will be on my way, I just hope my new Grandson has decided to make an appearance by then.  When they went to hospital on Wednesday, he did not want to make  his way out so  they left him alone for another week at least!!!

I  just found out this week that the fair has been cancelled on 30th Nov so I have a load of Christmas cards to get rid of plus other bits I have been making - boxes, wall hangers etc.  I,m quite annoyed  but there is nothing I can do about it, I will ring my charity ladies to see if they want  some more to sell.

Moving on, I want to thank you all for following my blog and welcome my new ladies too, so here is a little 'Thank You' card for you all.

I have been taking lessons from John Next Door on bow tying!!!
Cheery Lynn roses
Sentiment from Netty HERE

Make a Gift

Good Morning All

It has gone abit colder here in Spain, or it may just be me, coming back from holidays.  I,ve had to put the summer quilt on the bed and get the winter clothes out of boxes.  I swap over the summer clothes with the winter ones every spring and autumn.  I leave afew out because we do have some hot days in winter occasionally.  Not moaning though, I do love this time of year.  Hollie (Dad) skyped me last night to show her new winter coat (waiting pics from Mum), a gorgeous Little Red Riding Hood coat, soooo cute.
                                                                       **********

Feeling Better

Good Morning All

Feeling much better today, as I was yesterday thank goodness.  It has been a rough couple of days though.

Our little craft meeting went well yesterday morning, there was only five of us, but I think everyone enjoyed it.  There was a couple of ladies who are into scrap-booking rather than card making, which was great.  They brought some of their own stash to work with and were asked to bring some of their completed pages next week as the rest of us would like to see them and get into scrap-booking abit more.  Yesterday I showed them how to do the poinsettias  like these HERE.  And then they asked how I made the paper boxes like these HERE.  I think they all enjoyed the morning, I know I did, and hope to see afew more next week.
Fat club later this morning and I dont think the scales will be kind to me!!!!!!  Five and Six course meals each evening on the cruise ship do not do me any favours!!!!!! but they all tasted good!!!!!

                                                  *********************************

I made this lovely card the before I went away and thought I would show it to you as it incorporates a Tim Holtz flower using the same method as talked about above.

I used -
Silver mirri card embossed with 'swiss dots' folder
Silver edged ribbon
Sentiment from stash (ages old)
Recycled Christmas card with crochet edge

Vintage

Good Morning All
Charisma Cardz Challenge time and the theme is 'Vintage'

I,m afraid I dont do 'vintage' or 'shabby' very well but here is my offering.
I was given some cards by Linda from 'Animal Aid' with these gorgeous images, sepia with a hint of colour.  I trimmed it down and matted it onto white card inked on edges.  Added lace, homemade 'Cheery Lynn' roses, sentiment which I thought was quite apt.

Inside I used a 'Stamp Fairy' sentiment and inked the edges again.

Home

Good Morning All

We are back home and I,m full of cold and sore throat, but we had a wonderful time.  Just trying to catch up on things, then I,m off to bed with a couple of Paracetamol!!!

I thought I would drag another parchment card out to show you.

This is such a pretty piece and beautiful for a sympathy card.  This is coloured on the front with pencils and a little felt tip, and mounted onto black card.

I am starting a craft club on Thursday, so I,m trying to get ideas together to put to the ladies that, hopefully, will attend.  I just wanted to to together with local folks with the same passions that I have, where we can craft and chat and share ideas.  Any input from you lovely people will be appreciated.

Good Morning All

This is the last challenge for Lady Anne.  We have the theme of 'More than One Layer' which is a nice easy one.

I made this one as a jokey card  really.  Most women hate hitting 40 so I thought the young image was good with this thought 'Behold The Ageless Wonder'
